In the afternoon of September 15, just before the opening of the 20th China - ASEAN Expo, Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr Kao Kim Hourn led a team to conduct a site visit at the Jianning Kangheng Nanning Shuangding Circular Economy Industrial Park. Li Haiyan, the rotating CEO of SUS Environment, and Chen Xuewen, the deputy general manager of Jianning Water Group and chairman of the board of directors of Jianning Kangheng, accompanied the visit.

Dr Kao Kim Hourn and his entourage visited the industrial park, exhibition hall, central control room, waste crane control room, etc., and gained an in-depth understanding of the construction background, excellent technology process, environmental education initiatives, and advanced operation mode of the Jianning Kangheng Shuangding Industrial Park.

The relevant person in charge made a detailed introduction to the Nanning Shuangding Eco-Industrial Park. Nanning Shuangding Eco-Industrial Park was jointly planned and constructed by Nanning Jianning Water Group and SUS Environment, it follows the theme of "Mountain and Water" in its deindustrialization design, aiming to harmonize with nature and create a new urban image. It incorporates ESG concept and has won many international sustainable design awards, including the Italy A' Design Award.

The Nanning Shuangding Circular Economy Industrial Park is built on the principle of "one park, multiple districts, intensive synergy, intelligent operation and management, and green circulation". It is the first "1+N" circular economy industrial park in China where "one park, one enterprise" synergizes the solid waste disposal. It can treats approximately 880,000 tons of municipal solid waste annually, dispose of about 170,000 tons of organic waste and municipal sludge in a synergistic manner, and generate approximately 380 million kWh of green power, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 200,000 households, achieving dual material and energy recycling.

In addition, Nanning Shuangding Circular Economy Industrial Park not only turns waste into valuable resources, but also further drives the green transformation of other industrial chains in the surrounding area. By harnessing high-quality thermal energy resources generated from waste incineration, it has attracted quality enterprises like Tsingtao Brewery to invest in the vicinity, offering new ideas for the city's low-carbon and high-quality development.

H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn expressed that waste management and environment governance are common challenges for ASEAN governments, and SUS Environment's technological expertise and successful operational model offer promising prospects in the ASEAN market. At the same time, addressing energy pressure, carbon emission reduction, and green and high-quality development are concerns shared by all countries, and they are areas that can be promoted under the framework of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. With the ASEAN population soon surpassing 700 million, becoming the third largest population region after China and India, he hopes that SUS Environment will continue to leverage its advantages and increase its investment in development in the ASEAN region, with the ASEAN Secretariat providing assistance and support.

Li Haiyan mentioned that SUS Environment had focused on the ASEAN and Guangxi markets in recent years, and has gained the recognition and cooperation from local governments in places like Jakarta, Indonesia, Ninh Binh, Taiyuan(Thái Nguyên), Vietnam, and Phuket, Thailand. In the future, they will further leverage their technological advantages, adhere to the concept of "localization" R&D, and join hands with more ASEAN countries to jointly promote environmental governance and the construction of waste-free cities.

Chen Xuewen also expressed that Jianning Water Group will adhere to the path of green, circular, low-carbon high-quality development, and deepen the friendly exchanges with ASEAN countries. They will explore and share the excellent experience of the "Nanning Model," which integrates the entire industrial chain of urban and regional waste treatment, and work together with SUS Environment to contribute to the green and sustainable development of ASEAN.

At the end of the visit, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn gladly made an inscription, expressing the high recognition of Jianning Kangheng Nanning Shuangding Circular Economy Industrial Park and SUS Environment. He looks forward to work together to contribute something for environmental protection. The two parties ended their visit and exchange in a friendly atmosphere.
