The Shenyang West Waste-to-Energy Project is located at No. 3, Metallurgical 2nd Street, Economic and Technological Development Zone of Shenyang City. It is responsible for the harmless, reduction, and resource-based treatment of household waste in the region. The project boasts a robust daily household waste processing capacity of 1,500 tons. Construction of this project commenced in September 2017 with operations commencing in December 2019.
The operation of the Shenyang project has effectively addressed the pressing issue of household waste disposal in key areas such as Tiexi District, the Development Zone, and surrounding regions. By achieving the harmless treatment and resource utilization of household waste, the project significantly contributes to the enhancement of the regional ecological environment and the mitigation of the issue of "garbage besieging the city." Notably, in recognition of its exemplary performance, the Shenyang West Project was bestowed with an AAA-level rating as a household Waste-to-Energy plant by the China Urban Environmental Sanitation Association in 2021.
1. Design Highlight "Harmonious Coexistence with the Public"
The design of the waste-to-energy plant emphasizes harmonious coexistence with the urban environment. Featuring exterior walls predominantly in white and gray tones, the plant adopts simple and environmentally friendly design elements. The adjacent columns are ingeniously integrated to function as a chimney seamlessly blending into the urban skyline. Additionally, the main building incorporates frosted U-shaped glass materials, ensuring interior transparency. Under the contrast of light and shadow, it creates a modern landmark with both industrial functionality and artistic elegance.
2.Cutting-Edge Incinerator Technology
The project is equipped with SUS reciprocating grate incinerators (imported) (SUS-Hitz-VonRoll) and boasts of a state-of-the-art technology for waste incineration. With a single furnace capacity of 750 tons/day, these incinerators are resistant to high temperatures and corrosion, offering a prolonged service life and minimal maintenance costs.
3. Exemplary Emission Standards
The project adopts an advanced smoke purification process system utilizing "SNCR (ammonia water) + semi-dry method (Ca(OH)2) + dry method (Ca(OH)2) + activated carbon adsorption + bag dust removal." Notably, all emission indicators exceed national standards, with select metrics even surpassing stringent EU standards.
4. Open Environmental Education Initiative
The Shenyang West Project opens its doors to the public for free guided tours. Visitors are afforded the opportunity to explore clean and well-organized viewing passages with glass windows, providing insight into the intricate design of environmental facilities' pipelines. Moreover, the project features a comprehensive waste classification environmental education base equipped with multimedia resources to disseminate waste classification policies and promote environmental knowledge.
