The YanYang Waste-to-Energy Project is situated within the Jingmai Industrial Park, located in Matou Village, Dabin Town, YanYang County, Xinxing City, Henan Province. Its primary objective is the harmless, reduction, and resource-based treatment of household waste originating from YanYang County, the Plain Demonstration Zone, and adjacent areas of Xinxing City. Boasting a daily capacity of 600 tons of household waste, excavation of the landfill commenced on November 12, 2020, and the project seamlessly integrated into the power grid for electricity generation on December 28, 2021. Following this milestone, the project successfully completed a "72+24" hour full-load trial operation on January 10, 2022.

The YanYang Waste-to-Energy Project, a core initiative of the Eco-Industrial Park in YanYang County, holds pivotal significance as a major livelihood endeavor reflecting the broader concerns for overall environmental hygiene and protection within the country. Designed in accordance with the national AAA-level harmless standard for waste-to-energy plants, the project prioritizes addressing the issue of "neighborhood avoidance."

Project Highlight

1. Principle of “Volume Combination and Facade Design Following Internal Functions"

At the core of the YanYang project’s design ethos lies the fundamental principle of "volume combination and facade design following internal functions." Departing from conventional architectural paradigms the project employs minimalist forms and lines to articulate contemporary aesthetics. Noteworthy features include blue-gray decorative bands adorning the parapet walls and vertically elongated windows, serving to unify the architectural ensemble while seamlessly integrating with the surrounding environment.

2. Enhanced Flue Gas Emission Standards

Through the adoption of advanced flue gas purification processes such as SNCR (Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction), PNCR (Post-Combustion Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction), semi-dry and dry methods, activated carbon injection, and bag filters, the project attains elevated emissions standards surpassing national standards (GB18485-2014).

3. Efficient Production Practices

By September 2023, the project successfully processed approximately 418,900 tons of household waste yielding an impressive output of around 126 million kWh of electricity. Additionally, heating supply to the YanYang Industrial Park commenced in May with approximately 32,500 tons of steam supplied for heating purposes by the end of September.

4. Integrated Digital Control Platform

The project is equipped with a sophisticated digital control platform facilitating real-time monitoring of the entire production process. An online automatic monitoring center diligently tracks flue gas emission data ensuring transparency through continuous real-time public disclosure.

5. Establishment of an Open and Beneficial Community

Integral to the project is the provision of an environmental education center on the ground floor, accessible to the public on a regular basis. Through sustained environmental education initiative tailored for children the project endeavors to foster a sense of community engagement, thereby transforming initial apprehensions into mutually beneficial outcomes ultimately contributing to the cultivation of a green, sustainable, and congenial community environment.
