The Taiyuan Circular Economy and Environmental Protection Industry Demonstration Base is strategically located south of Liudu Village in Dongnan Community, Liudu Township, Qingxu County, Taiyuan City. Tasked with the safe, efficient, and sustainable treatment of 60% of the area’s domestic waste, this facility plays a pivotal role in regional waste management efforts. With a formidable daily domestic waste treatment capacity of 3000 tons, construction of the project commenced on September 12, 2017, culminating in its successful grid connection for power generation on September 8, 2020.

Notably, this project stands as the largest waste-to-energy initiative in Shanxi Province. Furthermore, it functions as a beacon of environmental sanitation advocacy and serves as a hub for public education on domestic waste classification within Taiyuan City. Guided by the principles of "technological advancement, efficient coordination, and mutual benefit and integration with neighboring areas," the base embraces its role in urban construction by undertaking environmental protection and social responsibilities with unwavering commitment and dedication.

Project Highlight

1. Innovative "Deindustrialization" Design

The project's facade and architectural landscape, designed by the renowned French architectural firm AIA, seamlessly blend industrial functionality with artistic flair. Building upon the honeycomb concept of SUS, the design draws inspiration from the scenic vistas along the west bank of the Fen River, infusing the structure with a layered hollow design. The synthesis of industrial aesthetics and artistic temperament creates a captivating visual narrative that harmonizes with its natural surroundings.

2. Unprecedented Scale in the Province

The project boasts four SUS mechanical grate furnaces each with a remarkable capacity of 750 tons per day. With a staggering daily processing capacity of up to 3000 tons, it emerges as the largest waste-to-energy endeavor in Shanxi Province.

3. Integrated Resource Recycling

This project collaborates with municipal sludge treatment projects, sewage treatment projects, kitchen waste treatment projects, and slag based building materials factories within the Taiyuan Circular Economy and Environmental Sanitation Industry Demonstration Base to reduce transportation costs.

4. Exemplary Flue Gas Emission Standards

The project adopts advanced domestic flue gas purification technology, with stringent flue gas emission standards surpassing national standards (GB18485-2014) and several indicators exceeding EU standards (2010/75/EU).

5. Community-Centric Collaboration for Mutual Benefit:

The project establishes an environmental education base equipped with interactive facilities spanning the first to the fifth floors. Regularly open to the public these facilities transcend traditional avoidance behaviors, fostering a spirit of mutual benefit and cooperation within the community. Through ongoing environmental science outreach and education initiatives, people from all walks of life are empowered to actively contribute to the creation of a green, sustainable, and beautiful community environment.
