International Day for Biological Diversity 2024: SUS ENVIRONMENT Takes Steps to Protect Biodiversity for a Greener Future

Publishdate:2024-07-02 Views:186

May 22 has been designated as the International Day for Biological Diversity to promote understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. Given the urgency of the current natural crisis, this year's theme of "Be Part of the Plan" serves as a much-needed clarion call to bring the entire society together to take action.

How to be part of the plan is critical. To embrace this challenge, as a global leading environmental comprehensive service provider, SUS ENVIRONMENT is dedicated to creating a cleaner and more friendly living environment. We improve the environment to protect the local biodiversity through the remediation of industrial and mineral pollution, full life cycle services at landfills, and recycling of waste management.

Turn Abandoned Mining Pit into Lake

The Laixi Yueshi Mining Pit is one of the earliest open-pit graphite mining sites. Since its closure in 1997, it has presented a formidable environmental challenge. Over time, the abandoned pit evolved into a vast expanse of fluorine-laden acidic wastewater, and its emissions posed a severe threat to both local communities and the surrounding ecosystem.

After Remediation

In 2019, SUS ENVIRONMENT initiated an ambitious project: the remediation of the Laixi Yueshi Mining Pit. The remediation project at Laixi Yueshi Mining Pit was meticulously guided by numerical simulation results. Over 27 months, with the project team’s effort, the once-contaminated waters have become clear and tasteless. Fish now populate the shallow bottom, and water grass thrives in the pit, symbolizing the successful rejuvenation of Laixi Yueshi Mining Pit.

Transform Waste Landfill into Ecological Landscape Park

The Neijiang, situated amid the lower reaches of the Tuojiang River in the Sichuan Basin, boasts a temperate climate, ample rainfall, and a rich variety of tree species. However, within this scenic landscape lies a domestic waste landfill, presenting not only an unsightly mountain of refuse emitting unpleasant odors but also posing a concern as it sits within proximity to 450 villagers, a primary school, and a vocational college.

In May 2020, SUS ENVIRONMENT initiated the remediation project for the domestic waste landfill in Neijiang City. Over a meticulous 7-month period encompassing tasks, the landfill underwent a remarkable metamorphosis. Today, it's an ecological haven alive with birdsong, blooming flowers, and soaring eagles.

After Remediation

It is of the utmost importance to provide an optimal opportunity to maintain the drive to safeguard and enhance the environment. The eco-industrial park is making a significant contribution to ecosystem protection and sustainability.
